Date of Birth: 19 February 2007

Weight: 80kg
Position: Wing/Midfielder
AFL Club: Geelong Cats (#22)
Drafted: Pick 33, 2025 AFL Draft

Hunter Holmes is an exciting addition to the Geelong Cats list, bringing elite speed and natural athleticism to the midfield group. Drafted from the Oakleigh Chargers with Pick 33 in the 2025 AFL National Draft, Hunter is renowned for his ability to break lines. His natural role on the wing allows him to impact contests both inside and outside.

Running is in his DNA—Hunter is the younger brother of Cats star Max Holmes and son of Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lee Naylor. That pedigree was on full display at the AFL Draft Combine, where Hunter clocked a blistering 2.895-second 20m sprint, ranking third overall.

While most comfortable on the wing, he has shown the ability to roll through the midfield, winning clearances and absorbing contact despite his lighter build. He showcased a clean set of hands to swoop on loose balls. With deceptive toughness, he proved willing to put his body on the line. The wing is where Holmes will likely slot in at AFL level, able to track up and down the line as a link in the transitional chain. His ability to peel off and find space saw him take metres gained with frequency.

A standout at Melbourne Grammar and Prahran Junior Football Club, Hunter represented Vic Metro at the Under-18 National Championships, impressing with his ball use and work rate. With a strong foundation and continued development in an elite environment, Hunter has the tools to become a dynamic contributor for the Cats.
